How are you? It's been a long since we last talked, I really miss you. But I have to say, I am really shocked about how things work here in Mississippi. I am writing this letter to inform you I can not believe I am being part of this community, here white people are tremendously racist.
It is actually disappointing how they treat black people. Black ladies look after their kids, they feed them, wash them and take care of the house, but at the end, they don't get the minimum wage and do not have social eassurance! Can you even imagine that?
They raise a white child and then twenty years later the child becomes the employer. It's that irony, that we love them and they love us, yet...We don't even allow them to use the toilet in the house, my old "friend" invented "separated , but equal" unbelievable. Can you imagine white people don't even care about their kids? These kids spent their childhood knowwing better their "nana" than their own mother. And that is true because that happened to me
One of the maids I interview told me "My boys are equally as smart, equally eager for an education. But we only had the money for one and I ask you, how do you choose which of your twin sons should go to college and which should take a job spreading tar? How do you tell one that you love him just as much as the other, but you've decided he won't be the one to get a chance in life? You don't. You find a way to make it happen. Any way at all." These women work their whole life for white people, and sometimes they fired them unfairly!
Anyway, this is getting worse every day, i don't understand why white people want to feel so powerfull. I know I can't help this women but i will write about their stories, because they need to be heard.
Hope I see you soon!
